What You Need To Know About Home Sprinklers

Home SprinklersAs a homeowner, protecting your home against fire damage is a priority. If your home was built without a residential sprinkler system, it may be time to consider this life-saving option. Consulting with a fire sprinkler contractor may be crucial to the safe keeping of your home.

A professional, licensed contractor will work with a homeowner in determining system options.

A fact to consider regarding the installation of a sprinkler system is that of all fire-related deaths, 80 percent occur in a home blaze. While smoke detectors are a requirement in a dwelling, by combining a residential sprinkler system with smoke detectors, the risk of fatality is cut significantly.

There is no question that a sprinkler system is critical in protecting property and lives.

In addition, if it is necessary for a fire department to use hoses to extinguish a house fire, the water damage to property caused by the hoses may be significant. On average, fire hoses use 2,935 gallons of water to put out a fire.

A residential sprinkler system uses under 300 gallons of water to control a fire, which is approximately 8 ½ times less than a fire hose. Consequently, using a sprinkler system could greatly reduce water damage to your home in the event of a house fire.

  1. I was thinking about having our sprinkler system serviced as I don’t know if it’s still in working condition. Though it’s fairly interesting to have learned that it’s only using 300 gallons of water to control fire which is a lot less than a fire hose. I’m glad that we were able to have the water-efficient one installed in our home. All that is left to do is to know if it’s still capable of expending that 300 gallons of water. I’ll be sure to have a sprinkler service check ours so that we can be at ease. Thanks!
